Identify's AppSight Application Problem Resolution System Named Winner in Best of Tech·Ed 2005 Awards

Technology recognized as best solution in the "development tools" category

NEW YORK, June 9, 2005 – In a ceremony last night at the Microsoft Tech·Ed 2005 Conference in Orlando, Fla., Penton Media Inc.’s Windows IT Pro and SQL Server Magazine announced that Identify Software’s AppSight™ Application Problem Resolution System has been chosen as Best Development Tool in the Best of Tech·Ed 2005 awards.

"Developers know that it takes longer to find and reproduce problems than to fix them. Identify’s AppSight directly addresses this costly fact of development by recording everything from the user view to method invocations and network traffic and providing a synchronized view of all interactions," said Mike Otey, senior technical editor for Windows IT Pro and SQL Server Magazine. "When a problem occurs, users can go directly to the line of code executing. AppSight extends the debugging power of IDE to any instance of the application," said Otey.

For most enterprises and software vendors, problem resolution remains a manual, error-prone, communications-intensive activity that involves multiple members of the application development team – architects, developers, testers, as well as operations. The problem resolution team typically goes through a lengthy and costly process that includes iterative attempts to gather information about the problem and multiple attempts to recreate the problem before even beginning the root cause analysis phase. Identify’s AppSight automates the entire process.

AppSight leverages patented AppSight Black Box software technology to monitor application execution and capture a synchronized, real-time log of user actions, system events, performance metrics, configuration data, and code execution flow – much like the "black box" flight recorder on an aircraft captures a real-time record of a flight. The AppSight Black Box log can be replayed and analyzed to quickly pinpoint the root cause of all kinds of application problems, whether related to performance, configuration issues, user mistakes, or code errors. Because AppSight allows IT professionals to simply replay, rather than recreate the problem, it eliminates up to 70 percent of the cycle time traditionally consumed by root cause analysis and streamlines the problem triage process.

"We are thrilled to receive this recognition," said Identify Software CEO Yochi Slonim. "This 'Best of' acknowledgement demonstrates that the acceleration of application problem resolution is a vital component of software development and maintenance and we are honored that Windows IT Pro and SQL Server Magazine bestowed this distinction on Identify’s AppSight software."
